OBITUARY Pilar Combariza del Valle April 17, 1925 – August 20, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Pilar Combariza del Valle April 17, 1925 – August 20, 2018 Pilar Combariza del Valle, resident of Northridge, California, passed away at home on Monday, August 20, at the age of 93, surrounded by her loved ones until her last moments. Pilar was born in Bogota, Colombia, the daughter of José Vicente Combariza and Constanza Munos de Combariza and was married to Roberto del Valle, who all preceded her in death. Pilar was a devoted mother and friend and is survived by her five children, Mario, Pilar, Robert, Adriana, Sylvia, fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

They were all the light of her life and she will be missed dearly for her kindness, generosity, love of music and dancing and her impeccable style, elegance and grace. She will always be in our hearts. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting, One of her paintings,“Mercadito”, was selected as the cover of one of the editions of “One Hundred Years of Solitude”, the 1967 novel by Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez.

The painting was chosen by the writer himself after seeing it at one of her exhibitions in Mexico City. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 8 at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish,18400 Kinzie Street, Northridge. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Heart Of The Brain at www.
