OBITUARY Rachael Anne Hiers September 16, 1930 – October 5, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Rachel Anne Hiers, 88, of Orange City, formerly of Ormond Beach, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Longwood Health and Rehab Center, Longwood Fl. Mrs. Hiers was born in Athens, GA and moved to this area in 1956. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia and a long time Georgia Bulldog fan.

She majored in home economics and worked for Florida Power and Light Company prior to raising her family. Rachel raised four boys and was active in all their activities. She enjoyed cooking, playing Bridge, entertaining and traveling.

Together with her husband she traveled extensively; going to Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon, Alaska, Hawaii and Maine. While residing in Ormond Beach she was an active member of Tomoka United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hiers was predeceased by her husband, Guy; son, William and sister, Elsie Covington.

Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Hugh (Vickie) of Orange City; Michael (Dawn) of Ocoee and Alan (Michelle) of Tampa; six grandchildren, Justen, Lindsey, Rachel, Hannah, Maria and Britt and great granddaughter, Paige. The family will receive friends Saturday October 20, 2018 from 10:00 am- 11:00 am at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 548 N Nova Road, Ormond Beach. A funeral Service with interment in Volusia Memorial Park will follow at 11:00 am.
