Rafael was born September 26, 1945 to Paula Salinas Chavez and Anacleto Chavez. Rafael is survived by; son Pablo Chavez; son Jorge Chavez; and daughter Michelle C Zavala; brother Ulalio Chavez, brother Cornelio Chavez, brother Anacleto Chavez, brother Jose S Chavez and sister Elena Reyes; granddaughter Ashley Chavez, granddaughter Danielle Chavez-Dennett, grandson Paul I Chavez, granddaughter Kiana Chavez, grandson Jorge Chavez, grandson Nicolas L Chavez, grandson Cruz M Chavez and granddaughter Ava K Chavez.

Rafael was preceded in death by; father Anacleto Chavez and mother Paula Salinas Chavez; brother Juan S Chavez; brother Cain Orozco and sister Cuca Ortiz.
