Ralph’s Obituary Ralph V. Fossat HELPER- Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend, Ralph Victor Fossat, 77, left this life January 24, 2019 after living life to the fullest. Ralph was born September 1, 1941 in Price, Utah to Victor and Cellia Woodward Fossat. Married Sandra Petrie on December 5, 1964 in Elko, Nevada and they loved each other deeply for 55 years.

They had 3 children Vikki (Jimmy) Ori, Kelly (Kenji) Otani, Victor (Dana) Fossat. Six grandchildren Kamren, Courtney, Kelcy, Michaela, AJ and Melissa. Three great-grandchildren Kaylin, Easton and Baby Seals (deceased).

Ralph was a gentle and loving man who loved to tease, and if he teased you, he loved you. Dad walked all over Helper and was a friend to many. He would help anyone needing a hand and was an example of hard work and dedication.

Ralph was known at Utah Power and Light by his friends and co-workers as “woodtick”. He made many lifelong friends during his 28 year career with the power company. He loved his weekly golf outings with the seniors and Wednesday night golf with Vic.

Ralph and Sandra opened and operated Fossat’s Drive-In in Helper for many years. He loved his girls and often supported them with advice, support and was an avid basketball spectator. Ralph was a huge support to his children and grandchildren.

His daughter Vikki in her political runs for county recorder, he was her rock. Her biggest supporter and her shoulder to cry on when politics were mean. He placed signs all over, even in places he shouldn’t and carried her picture in his pocket to hand out on the golf course.

His son Vic with all his hunting adventures, always there to give work advice, Wednesday golf night, countless camping and fishing trips. He was always a huge support to his daughter Kelly and spent many years missing her. He loved his grandchildren and always let them know how proud he was of them.

Ralph loved walking in Helper, plowing snow for friends, helping neighbors, road trips with mom, teasing mom, gum, candy, Pepsi, ball hats, moms baked goods and spaghetti. Ralph was known to his sisters as “Bub”. He was a wonderful son and brother who took care of his family through all of life’s hardships.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife Sandra, children Vikki (Jimmy) Ori, Victor (Dana) Fossat and son-in-law Kenji Otani; grandchildren Kamren Nielsen, Courtney Barnett (Dusten Jones), Kelcy Otani, Michaela Fossat (David Seals), AJ Barnett and Melissa Fossat; great-grandchildren Easton and Kaylin; brothers-in-law Dan Verde and John (Debbie) Petrie; sister Darlene Lowe; special friend and neighbor, Jama Grundy; and many loving nieces, nephews, neighbors and a community of friends. Preceded in death by parents, sister Ellene Verde; brother-in-law Karl; daughter Kelly Otani; and great-grandchild baby Seals. Ralph will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Our family is thankful for the loving care he received at Castleview Hospital from the nurses, staff, Dr. Justesen and Dr. Gagon. Ralph knew he was in good hands and made sure to tell everyone along the way. His legacy is his true ability to express kindness and friendship.

Graveside service Wednesday, January 30, 2019, 12:00 noon at the Mt. View Cemetery in Helper. The family welcomes friends to meet them directly at the cemetery.
