Obituary for Randy Bowersock Randy Edward James Bowersock I, 68 EAST LIVERPOOL – Randy Edward James Bowersock I, of East Liverpool, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Salem West Health Care Center. He was 68. Born in East Liverpool, February 23, 1950, he was a beloved son of Marthalee “Martie” Burns Bowersock Phillips of East Liverpool and the late W. Bernard Bowersock, Sr. Randy was a veteran of the U.S. Army and earned a Bronze Service Star in the infantry as a tank driver while he was stationed in Vietnam and Cambodia.
He was proud of his service to our country and referred to America as the “Shining City on the Hill”. Following his military service, he lived in Colorado for approximately one year until he returned to this area. He worked at the former Crucible Steel Company until he was disabled in a car accident in the 1970s.
He was an honest and kind man, Protestant by faith, who believed in God and life after death. He loved East Liverpool, the Cleveland Browns, John Wayne movies, and Elizabeth Montgomery. He loved and cared deeply for his mother.
They remained close all of his life. He also leaves behind his kids: Randy James Edward Bowersock II and Stephanie Hall as well as a grandson Paxton Croxall. Other survivors include his nieces: Michelle Bowersock Green; Megan Bowersock and Tim Varsho, Kortnie Marie Bowersock (of whom he would say: “she’s alright and kind to me”) and Brian Kasunich; Brandon Green and Brittney; cousins: Debbie Jones Litton and Jim Litton, and their daughter, Angie Radeschi; Judy Burns Knepper; and his special friend, good guy, beer buddy, Mike Stoffel; step-relations, Carol Phillips Smith; Greg and Judy Householder, Bill and Lorraine Householder; Rob and Nancy Clark Lagucki, and their son, Eddie.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Milton and Pearl Sines Burns. He was also preceded in death by his father, William Bernard Bowersock Sr. (WWII); brother, William Bernard Bowersock Jr. (Navy) and his wife, Jane Bowersock; grandparents Ed & Sara Bowersock; uncle, Francis Bowersock, Lt. James R. Burns (Battle of the Bulge), Eugene (died at birth); aunt, Agnes “Aggie” Burns Jones and her husband Allen; step-father, W. Thomas Phillips; sister and brothers-in-law, Ed and Gypsy Phillips Clark, and Bill Smith.
Friends may visit Friday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.
