Randy’s Life Story Randal (Randy) Martin Delaney was born to Marty and Ginny Delaney on October 9th, 1954 and raised in Placid, IA. Randy grew up as a true country boy, walking in the woods, fishing, hunting, and playing ball at the diamond. On May 3rd, 1975 he married the love of this life, Leslie, and over the next 43 years they built an amazing life together.

He spent most of his 40-year career working as a mechanic and Fleet Supervisor for Colonial Baking Company in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines. His recent years in retirement were spent enjoying days on his deck under the trees with family and friends over a Natural Light (or two). He shared his passion for hunting and fishing with his son, brothers, grandchildren, and best friend Shie.

One of his favorite places to visit was Estes Park where he and Leslie visited as recent as July. Often described as everyone’s favorite person he treasured his time with family, especially his grandchildren, and friends. Poppy had a special bond with his very first grandchild, Kari’s daughter, Darian, but he always made Chase, Riley, Caden, Meila, Anthony, and Randal feel loved.

He loved telling stories of his youth and cheering on his Dallas Cowboys. Randy was well known for his sarcastic humor which he passed along to his children. While his death was extremely sudden and painful for us, we find comfort in knowing he is walking again in the woods beside his Dad whom he greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years Leslie, daughter Kari Ann, son Bryce, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his mother Ginny, sisters Pam (Ernie) and Tina (Rich), brothers Rick (Jacki), and Ed (Sandy), brother-in-law Michael (Irene), sister-in-law Tracey (Todd), many treasured nieces and nephews, aunts, an uncle, cousins and his beloved pets, Ringo and Crystal.
