Obituary for Ray Long Ray Long Ollie Raymond Long, Jr., 72, of Orange, Texas, died on November 12, 2018, at his home surrounded by loved ones. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Born in Stewart, Florida, on September 12, 1946, he was the son of Ollie Raymond Long, Sr. and Florence (Anderson) Long.

Ray was in the United States Army Reserve, worked as a Police Officer in Orange for 11 years, worked as a Plant Supervisor at Ausimont in Orange, as well as working security at Lamar State College- Orange. He attended high school at Bridge City High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Lamar University. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America as an Eagle Scout.

Ray had a passion for his grandchildren, the beach and enjoyed spending time at Crystal Beach with his family and friends playing dominos and having a good time. He loved playing and watching golf, traveling, going to festivals with his beach crew, and coaching little league. Ray loved his family dearly and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Florence Long. He is survived by his girlfriend of 20 years, Kay Stubbs; sons, Scott Long and wife Kasie, of Bridge City and Chad Long, of Houston; grandchildren, Karys, Slate, and Reid Long; siblings, Donna Lanthier, Norma Coon, and Erma Richter; along with numerous other friends and family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Port Bolivar Volunteer Fire Department at 1806 Broadway, Port Bolivar, TX 77650.
