Raymond B. Fekken, age 91, of New Era, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019. He was born in New Era on March 9, 1928, the eighth of ten children to the late Ben Sr. and Winnie (Bottema) Fekken. Ray was a life-long resident of the area.

He married the former Mary Sturtevant on November 1, 1946. He later married Marjory Carnes. Mr. Fekken worked at Shaw-Walker for over forty-three years, retiring in 1989.

He had served on the New Era Village Council and had been a volunteer with the New Era Fire Department. A charter member of the New Era Bible Church, he attended the Rothbury Community Church the last several years. He is survived by his sons, John (Pam), twins, Rick (Jane) and Nick (Linda), sons, Jim (Tammy) and Dan (Lori); twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Joyce Fekken.

He was preceded in death by both wives, his daughter, Kathy (Tom) Altand, daughter-in-law, Wendy (Selig) Fekken; brothers, infant, Johnny, Jake (Jeanette), Francis (Rica), John (Dorcas), Ben Jr. (Eunice) and Harold; and three sisters, Winifred (Herm) Plescher, Genevieve (John) Houseman and Doris (Wes) Lohman. Visiitation is Wednesday, April 3rd, 6-8 pm and Thursday, April 4th 10-11 am at Harris Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow Thursday, 11 am also at the funeral home with Pastor James Enns officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at Rothbury Community Church.
