Raymond George Poor Jr. 65, of West Mineral, KS died 3:53pm Saturday February 9, 2019 at his home following an illness. Raymond was born February 12, 1953 in Miami, OK the son of Raymond George Sr. and Billie Jean Braden Poor. Raymond’s childhood had him living in Picher, OK and later Scott, LA.

Following school Raymond enlisted in the United States Army. After his military service Raymond worked for Texeco in Galveston, TX and Farmland Industries. In addition he joined Merchant Marines in San Pedro, CA.

Most recently Raymond worked for the Cherokee County Highway Department, Deputy Reserves, West Mineral Fire Department, City Marshall for West Mineral, KS and City Council for West Mineral, KS. Raymond was married to Jackie Stump in 1974; they later divorced. Raymond later married Donna K. Frost in Miami, OK; she survives at the home.

Raymond was of the Christian Faith. Survivors include his wife; children Christy Melton and husband James of Sequin, TX and Christina Long and husband Eric of Lawton, OK; brother Freddie Lee Poor and wife Karen of Santa Fe, TX; sister Debra Jarmon and husband Jerry of Bastrop, TX; grandchildren Joshua Poor, Corey Groves, Mathew Gillis, Kathryn Lico, Jared Melton, Chelsea Harger and Skyler Judd; great-grandchildren Makayla Lico, Conner Lico and Oliver Lico. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Justin Boyd.

Funeral Services will be 10:00am Wednesday February 13, 2019 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus, KS with Mike Frost officiating. Burial will follow at the Star Cemetery in West Mineral, KS. Family will receive friends from 6-7:00pm Tuesday February 12, 2019 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus, KS; friends may call after 3:00pm Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the West Mineral Fire Department. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 611 S. East Ave. Columbus, KS 66725.
