Raymond’s Obituary Raymond Humphreys, age 87, of Amherst, passed away on January 24, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 2:30P.M., Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Amherst with Ronnie Hedges and Harold Harrison officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery.

Arrangements under the personal care of Hammons Funeral Home. Raymond Humphreys was born January 16, 1932 to Bill and Lena Humphreys in Lamb County. He attended school in Sudan; where he enjoyed playing sports.

Raymond married Artie Jewel Wilson on May 8, 1953 in Amherst, Texas. Raymond was a farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church of Amherst. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching sports and traveling with Artie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Arles, John, Jim and Carl and a sister, Ruby Barrett and daughter-in-law, Connie Humphreys. Raymond is survived by his wife of 65 years, Artie Jewel Humphreys, of Amherst, his son, Roger Humphreys, his sister, Dorothy Franklin, and five grandchildren, Molly and Jake Tucker, Austin and Heather Humphreys, Bethany and Daniel Linley, Heather Leann Humphreys and Jeremy Telford, six great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Viola and Anna Humphreys. Memorials in Raymond’s name may be made to the EMS, Baptist Church or a favorite charity.
