Raymond William “Monk” DeVries Jr. passed away Friday, May 3, 2019 at Riverstone Hospice in Billings, Montana. Born November 27, 1967 in Cody, Wyoming, he was one of three children of Raymond Sr and Cynthia (Everett) DeVries. In 1971 the family moved to Thermopolis, Wyoming where Monk attended school, graduating in 1986.

He attended Casper College graduating with a Diesel Mechanic certificate. His love for the trucking industry brought him back to Thermopolis where he worked in the family owned R&C Trucks business. In 1991 Monk married Rhonda Perrie.

To this union was born two children, Averyona Jane DeVries and William Raymond DeVries. The couple later divorced. An artist, Monk could draw, paint or fabricate anything.

He loved motorcycles, snow skiing, camping, was an accomplished fly fisherman and was an excellent cook. Those cherishing his memory include his parents of Thermopolis; daughter Averyona DeVries of Casper and son, William of Thermopolis; brother, Shawn (Lily) of Thermopolis, sister, Dena (Jonathan) Griffle of Columbus, Montana; nephews Will, Jake and niece Alaina Griffle and niece, Silvanna DeVries. Monk was a loving, caring son, father, brother and uncle.

He will be missed by his family. Memorial services will be held Saturday, 10:00 am at Mortimore Funeral Home, Thermopolis, WY. The family requests you wear bright colors, no black.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Monk’s name to Riverstone Hospice, 2230 Mission Way, Billings, MT, 59102.
