OBITUARY Raymond “Ray” Frederick Stuaan January 1, 1935 – November 26, 2018 Raymond Frederick Stuaan, 83, of Hanna City, Illinois, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018 at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 1, 1935 in Peoria, Illinois to Frederick and Freda (Johnson) Stuaan. On February 5, 1955, Ray married Dorothy Jean Kirkham in Peoria, Illinois; she survives.

He is also survived by four children, Lori (Ron) Riekena of Peoria, Illinois, Cindy (Steve) Rilling of Huber Heights, Ohio, Dave (Kim) Stuaan of Bushnell, Illinois and Jeanie (Scott) Jones of Morton, Illinois; 11 grandchildren, Josh (Holly) Riekena, Tyler (Courtney) Riekena, Phillip (Sabrina) Rosenbohm, Robert (Tracy) Stanfield, Nathan (Megan) Stanfield, Abbigail Stuaan, Zach (Kelly) Stuaan, Luke (Alecia) Stuaan, Arin (Karl) Nash, Paige Ledbetter and Haley Varnes; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Delores Samsel. As a farmer for much of his life, Ray enjoyed the daily duties and adventures that his farm in Peoria County provided.

He also served six years for the Air National Guard in Peoria and worked as a self-employed carpet layer for Melgreen Furniture and Sutton Carpet. Ray was a devoted follower of Christ and joyfully shared his faith, encouraging others to walk with Jesus. A member of the Hanna City Presbyterian Church, he served on various boards and committees and loved to participate in Jack Stevens’ Bible study.

He will be remembered by the love and dedication he afforded his family and friends, his bright sense of humor, tireless work ethic and unwavering support for the St. Louis Cardinals. The family extends heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Raji Jacob, the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care and the Richard L. Owens Home for their compassion and care. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Hanna City Presbyterian Church in Hanna City, officiated by Pastor David Keithley and Pastor Jay Johnson.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Bartonville. Memorials may be made to the Hanna City Presbyterian Church or to the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
