RAYMOND “RAY” HOWARD KIES, 86, of Sidney, passed away at 2:00 AM Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Minster, Ohio. He was born on May 28, 1931 in Lewistown, Ohio, the son of the late Clarence and Anna (Opphile) Kies. On February 5, 1961 he married Linda L. Miller, who survives him along with three children, Tony (Julie) Kies of Houston, Troy (Tracy) Kies of Anna, and Kris Kies of Sidney; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Evelyn (John) Eick, Arthur (Pauline) Kies, Eileen Kies, Richard (Shirley) Kies, Harold (Mary) Kies, and Norman (Deloris) Kies.

Ray was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was retired from the former Copeland Corporation where he worked for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Sidney American Legion Post 217 and the Sidney AMVETS.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, with Pastor Matt Place officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by the Sidney American Legion will follow at Pearl Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
