Ray Lukowski passed away peacefully on Friday March 15, 2019. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Ray was known for his love of family, his wry sense of humor, his bright blue eyes and his love of fishing.

The first child of Raymond Joseph Lukowski and Audrey (Kirkpatrick) Lukowski, Ray was born on September 3, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his sister Valerie Lukowski. He is survived by siblings, Barbara Nary, Mary Lou Long, and Gary Lukowski.

Survived by the love of his life, wife Mary Lukowski, son, Jim Lukowski (Amy Lukowski), and daughter, Jenny Simmons (JT Simmons); beloved grandchildren, Jaggert Lukowski (17), Lleyton Lukowski (14), Lola Simmons (13), and Roxy Simmons (9). In the 1970s, Ray served in the Nebraska National Guard. Trained in Fort Ord, California where he was a helicopter pilot.

Based on quite a few stories, Ray loved his time flying. His business career started with Winchester Western and Smith & Wesson. He then moved into the technology business, working to build cellular sites and manage their services.

Later in life, Ray kept busy selling wireless technology at Best Buy. Ray and Mary grew their family with the birth of a son and daughter – Jim and Jenny. The Lukowski family resided in the Omaha area until 1972 when they moved to St. Charles, Illinois.

In 1978 the family moved to a home in Indianapolis, Indiana where Ray lived for 41 years. Ray and Mary would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Ray truly loved fishing.

He loved fishing with friends for bass and walleye. He took many fishing trips to Canada. He passed on his love of fishing to his son, Jim, and grandsons, Jaggert and Lleyton.

He loved the outdoors and was an Eagle Scout in his youth. He was an avid trap and skeet shooter, even tried out for the U.S. Olympic Team. We will miss our husband, Dad and Papa.

Fish on, Dad! A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11:00am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 14598 Oak Ridge Road, Carmel, IN 46032. Visitation will take place prior to Mass beginning at 9:30am in the church.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ray, be given to The Merciful Help Center, 1045 W 146th Street, Carmel, IN 46032. Envelopes will be available at the service. Bussell Family Funerals is privileged to assist the family in arrangements.
