OBITUARY Rebecca Rita Ramirez December 19, 1930 – August 25, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Rebecca Ramirez was born on December 19, 1930 in Wasco, California and passed on August 25, 2018 in Merced, California. She was cherished by her family and all those who knew and loved her. Rebecca worked for many years as a teacher’s aide for the Merced Head Start Program, but her primary and most enjoyable role was as a homemaker for her husband, three children, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, social visits, musical theatre, and watching television with her precious Chihuahua, Canela, resting on her lap. She and her husband Gilbert Ramirez were blessed with 67 years of marriage. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Merced, California.

Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Refugio Gonzalez, brothers Peter and Jesse Gonzalez, daughter-in-law Patricia Ramirez, and son-in-law Victor Alcaraz. She is survived by her sister Rachel Cortinas; loving husband Gilbert Ramirez; children Gilbert, Jr., Diana Ramirez-Alcaraz, and Debi Houghton (son-in-law Stacey); grandchildren Richard Ramirez and Jennifer Salgado (grandson-in-law Rolando); and great-grandchildren Lainey, Bekah, Jacob, and Katie Ramirez, as well as Sabian Salgado. She will be deeply missed by all.

2018 was a difficult year for Rebecca. She spent most of the year in and out of the hospital and in constant care. We wish to thank all of the physicians, nurses, Mercy Home Healthcare, her caregivers, and family who helped greatly in her declining health.

Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 519 West 12th Street Merced, California 95341. Vigil service with rosary will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral mass immediately following at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery located at 260 West Childs Ave. Merced, California 95341.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home in Merced, California. FAMILY Rachel Cortinas, Sister Gilbert Ramirez, Husband Gilbert Ramirez Jr., Son Diana Ramirez-Alcaraz, Daughter Debi Houghton, Daughter Stacey Houghton, Son-in-law Richard Ramirez, Grandson Jennifer Salgado, Granddaughter Rolando Salgado, Grandson-in-law She also leaves behind her great grandchildren Lainey, Bekah, Jacob, and Katie Ramirez as well as Sabian Salgado.
