Reginald Horace Hickman, Sr., 76, of Walterboro, entered into rest Thursday evening, May 2, 2019, while surrounded by his loving family at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. Born May 7, 1942, in Walterboro, South Carolina he was a son of the late Horace “Sox” Hickman and the late Sheba Hiott Hickman. He served in the South Carolina National Guard and was a retired Pipefitter from the Charleston Naval Shipyard.

Following his retirement, he worked for a number of years with Coastal Electric in Walterboro as a Water Heater installer. Reginald dearly loved his family, always proud of his four children and their biggest supporter in life. He was an avid Clemson fan and a engineer at heart, always able to fix most anything.

Fishing was his greatest passion in life. He loved others and was also well loved by many. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Walterboro.

Surviving are: his wife of twenty-seven years, Mrs. Lenore Rawlings Hickman; four children, Reginald H. Hickman, Jr. of Walterboro, Linda Jean Thompson and her husband Aubrey of Walterboro, Christopher Duane Hickman and his wife Darlene of Lexington, and Monica Hickman Hadwin and her husband, Allen, Jr. of Erwin, North Carolina; and two step-children, William J. Altman of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Penny A. Strickland and her husband Craig of Ruffin. There are ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dru R. Kemp and her husband Bill of Louisville, Kentucky that also survive along with a beloved host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Grayson L. Altman; a step-grandson, Andrew Thompson; two brothers, Carl Hickman and Howard Hickman; and a sister, Shirley Hickman Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105; or donate at: www. stjude.org. Funeral services will be conducted 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon, May 5, 2019, from the graveside at Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro.
