Reginald’s Obituary Reginald “Reggie” Alvin Hailstalk, Sr., was born on November 15, 1933 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was the second son of ten children born to the late John Bruce and Mary Elizabeth Hailstalk, Sr. Reggie passed away on March 8, 2019, at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his siblings John Bruce Hailstalk, Jr., Richard Allen Hailstalk, Sr., Ronald Artis Hailstalk, Sr., and Delyour Marlene Hailstalk-Wolfe, sons Reginald Alvin, Jr., Lawrence Roberts, and daughters Debora Alison Hailstalk and Tanya Roberts.

At an early age, Reggie accepted Christ as his personal Savior and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He graduated from Walker-Grant High School in Fredericksburg, Virginia. In 1955, Reggie married the former Letitia Ann Walker and they soon relocated to Brooklyn, New York.

From this union four children were born, Reginald Alvin, Jr., Sherri Elizabeth, Debora Alison and Stephanie Elaine Hailstalk. Reggie had a committed relationship with the late Gloria Yvette Roberts. They were parents to Tamara Yvonne, Francesca Katiya, Tanya and Lawrence Roberts.

He later married Gloria Ann Stewart. This union was blessed with three children, Michael Alan Hailstalk, Dawn and Bryan Stewart. Reggie worked as a milk delivery driver and later worked in construction.

After his retirement, he worked odd jobs just to keep busy. Soft spoken and always willing to lend a helping hand, his work was appreciated as a handyman, gardener, and mechanic, otherwise, a jack-of-all trades in his community of Lawnside, New Jersey, for his neighbors, friends and family. He also enjoyed watching sports, playing pinochle and his favorite playing numbers.

He is survived by his beloved and devoted daughter, Sherri Hailstalk of Douglasville, Georgia. He is also survived by children, Stephanie Hailstalk of McDonough, Georgia, Tamara Roberts of Silver Springs, Maryland, Francesca (James) Roberts-Tensley of Blackwood, New Jersey, Michael (LaShay) Hailstalk of Bowling Green, Virginia, Dawn (Kenny) Riles of East Orange, New Jersey, and Bryan (Joyce) Stewart of Woodbridge, Virginia; 35 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; siblings, Roberta Jean Hailstalk of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Robert (Delores) Douglas Hailstalk of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Juanita Suzanne Hailstalk of Lawnside, New Jersey, Terry Llewelyn Hailstalk of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Valerie Delores Hailstalk-Smith of Lawnside, New Jersey; two sisters-in-law, Ruth (Richard) Hailstalk of Spottsylvania, Virginia, and Annie (Ronald) Hailstalk of Atwater, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Reggie was well loved and he will be remembered and truly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23, at 11:00 a.m. at A. L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home, 200 Butternut Drive, Fredericksburg, VA.
