Rejeanne “Re” Marie (Dupuis) Jenkins passed away peacefully at her home in Springfield, on September 9, 2018 with her loving family at her bedside. She was born in Springfield on July 13, 1921 to George and Clara (Leduc) Dupuis. Upon graduation from the High School of Commerce, she went on to work in the office of The Westinghouse Corp until 1942 when she left to marry her childhood sweetheart, William “Willie” Jenkins Sr. The war years found this indomitable woman crisscrossing the country from one Army base to another as the inseparable couple solidified their iron clad bond that would not be broken until the death of Bill 69 years later in 2011.

The quintessential wife and mother, she was famous for her delectable pies and French Canadian Thanksgiving stuffing. Her handmade quilts were true works of art. When her youngest child reached high school, she reentered the work force and quickly rose to a management position with the Springfield Housing Authority, managing a senior housing community.

Re was a veracious reader, consuming books at a frenetic pace. She was a highly skilled Bridge player, and remained so, well into her nineties. Re is survived by her children, Gail Fiorentino, William Jenkins Jr., both of E Longmeadow, and Lawrence Jenkins (Maryann Burns) of Yarmouth Port, MA.

Re also leaves her granddaughters Theresa Fiorentino (Thomas Nehmer) and Allison Nicolopoulos (Brett); great granddaughters Isabella Rondeau and Tia Nehmer. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 with a Calling Hour from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave. , Springfield and proceeding to St. Cecelia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham for a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to: Shriners Hospital for Children 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104-2396, Tel: 413-787-2000 Web: support.
