Rev. George B. Boatwright, 94, of Walton, WV, former Pastor of the Advent Christian Church went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2019 at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg, West Virginia. George was born December 9, 1924 in Clover, WV to Oscar “Ott” and Carrie (Chambers) Boatwright.

After graduating from Walton High School, WV in 1943, George enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served his country as a B-24 Bomber Belly Gunner/Armorer, seeing combat action in Europe, often escorted by the Tuskegee Airmen. After the war, George attended Aurora College in Aurora, IL and the New England School of Theology in Boston, MA and pastored several churches in NY & Florida for over 35 years. George enjoyed gardening, inventing, telling stories from the “holler” and hiking in the Catskills with his wife Mollie.

Surviving are his children, George Olin (Pam) Boatwright, North Augusta , SC, Barbara Boatwright (Brian Duncan) Arkville, NY, Bill (Ana) Boatwright, Mt Horeb, WI, David (Hyunsuk) Boatwright, Live Oak, TX and John (Donna) Boatwright, Oasark, AL; grandchildren, Jeremy Peck, Paul & Priscilla Boatwright, Daniel West (Courtney), Amanda Boatwright and Breanne Boatwright; great granddaughters, Arabella (Bella) Boatwright, and Katelijn West; several nephews, niece, cousins and sister-in-law, Joanne Soucy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Mavis (McCormack) Boatwright and Mollie (Almekinder) Boatwright.
