Richard A Herling 65, of North Ridgeville, passed away following a one-year illness on Wednesday April 24, 2019 at St. Johns Medial Center in Westlake. He was born on June 22, 1953 in Cleveland. Richard was a graduate of Max Hayes High School in Cleveland and was a resident of North Ridgeville for 38 years.

He worked as a mechanic for Sylvester’s and Marathon, both in Cleveland, retiring after 40 years of service in 2016. His passion was anything classic cars, which he shared with other members of the Northern Ohio Chevelle Club of America. Richard was also a fan of sports, mainly football and baseball and he previously coached a softball team.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Richard is survived by; his wife of 38 years, Barbara (nee Slatton); three children, Lisa Jacobs-Jobe (Michael), Stoney Jacobs (April) and Richard Herling II; and by eight grandchildren, Julie, Gavin, Logan, Gianna, Brayden, Jaxon, Grayson, and Julianna. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Martha Herling.

The family welcomes friends to join them on Thursday May 2, 2019 from 5pm until 6:30pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd. , (at Stoney Ridge Rd. ), North Ridgeville.

The family requests no flowers.
