Richard A. Smith, of Doylestown, OH went to his long-awaited heavenly home on October 9, 2018 at the age of 88. Richard is survived by his sons; Ron (Linda), Tom (Gale), and Don (Susie); his grandchildren, Daniel (LeDawn), Mark, Christina (Greg), Michelle (Brent), Tim, Scott (Jodi), Stephanie (Paul), Daniel (Suri), and Alicia (Chuck); 27 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Brian (Iva). He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian; his parents; his sons, John and David; his daughter, Miriam; and his brothers, Norman, Virgil Jr., Ramon, and Jim.

Richard was born to the late Virgil T. and Anna Mae Smith on February 7, 1930. He was blessed with five brothers, Norman, Virgil Jr., Ramon, Jim, and Brian. Richard married his lifetime love, Marian, on August 5, 1949.

Richard and Marian grew into a family of eight and they enjoyed 55 years together. Richard was a hard worker, supporting his family with 40 years at PPG as a certified welder. He had a vibrant, humorous and charismatic personality, colored with a strong will and perseverance.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flea markets and auctions, and spending time with his family. He loved the Lord most of all. Richard devoted his life to serving God.

He was a dedicated member at Maranatha Bible Church. The family would like to thank all the amazing staff at Windsor House at Doylestown Health Care Center for the incredible care and love shown to Richard and his family during his final days on earth. You have been a treasure on his journey home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Rd. Norton, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, October 13th at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Don Rohrbacher officiating.
