Richard “Dick” Blair Nilsen, 85, of Tilton, died at Concord Hospital on April 30, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Damariscotta, ME on March 2, 1933, the son of Lorain Marion Nilsen and Helen Shirley (Blair) Nilsen. Dick was a graduate of the Lincoln Academy in New Castle, ME.

He served in the Army during the Korean War. After his service, Dick moved to Concord, NH and was a longtime employee of NH Explosives as a Service Manager and later worked for Beauregard Equipment Sales and retired from Heat and Control in Pembroke, NH. Dick was an avid fisherman (lake and deep sea) and Red Sox fan.

He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, traveling, playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of NH Sno-Shakers, Gold Wing Road Riders Association, VFW, American Legion Post, Serendipity Singers, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and St. Paul Church. He volunteered at the Thrift Store, Bread and Roses Kitchen, Senior Center and Franklin Opera House.

Family members include his beloved wife, Majella (Turcotte) Nilsen of Tilton, NH, son Richard A. Nilsen and his wife Kris of Franklin, NH, stepson Dr. Michael Desautel and wife Debbie of Inverness, FL, stepdaughters Michelle Tahiri of Inverness, FL, Cheryl Gosselin and husband Patrick of Bow, NH, and Charyn Miller and husband Robert of N. Attleboro, MA; eight grandchildren: Arika Dunn and husband Collin, Melanie and Lauren Desautel, Malik and Mirabelle Tahiri, Kimberly and Stephanie Gosselin and Lindsey Miller; a brother, Robert Nilsen and wife Joan of Palmer, AK, and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth in 2003. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 5-8:00 pm at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11:30 am in St. Paul Church, School St., Franklin. Interment will be at a later date at NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH Donations in memory of Dick may be made to Franklin Animal Shelter, 19 Rescue Rd. , Franklin, NH 03235.
