Richard “Butch” Walter Woznick, 70 years old of Loup City died on February 12, 2019 at St. Jane de Chantal at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, NE surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30am Saturday, February 16, 2019 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. Celebrating the Mass will be Father Richard Piontkowski, Father Tom Ryan, Father Reggie Urban, Rev.

Joseph Steele and Deacon Randy Lewandowski. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City with military honors by the Loup City American Legion Post #48. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church with a 7:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Loup City Volunteer Fire Department, Knights of Columbus, Loup City American Legion Post #48 or donor’s choice. Butch was born on June 25, 1948 to Richard I. & Ethel (Maciejewski) Woznick in Burwell, NE. He attended Loup City High School where he graduated in 1966.

After graduation, he went on to Hastings Tech to pursue an education background in automotive technology. In 1969 he was drafted and served one tour in Vietnam where he was wounded and received a purple heart. After returning to the states he worked at Good Year in Grand Island, where he met his future wife, Deborah Petersen.

They were married at St. Josephat’s Catholic Church in Loup City in 1974 and had four children; Paul, Kevin, Karen & Richard R. They moved back to Loup City in 1979 where he worked at Cooks & Beals before opening his own business Woznick Repair; where he was a welder and serviced small engines. He was active in the community as a member of St. Josephat’s Catholic Church, a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, served on the Loup City Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars where he served as Sergeant of Arms. Butch’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, golfing but most of all spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.

Butch is survived by his children Paul (Leslie) and their three daughters Sydnee, Piper, and Tatum of Waverly, NE; Kevin (Maggie) and son Cairo of Lincoln, NE; Karen of Lincoln, NE; and Richard R. (Nicki) and son Richard J. of Loup City, NE; sister-in-law Patty (John) Foje of Thorton, CO; along with several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Deborah Woznick and parents Richard I. and Ethel Woznick.
