Obituary for Richard Carlson It is with great sadness that the family of Richard (Rick) Carlson announces his passing after a brief illness on Monday, December 24, 2018, at the age of 71 years. He passed peacefully at his home in Orlando, Florida surrounded by his loving family. Rick was born on December 27, 1946 in Jamestown, NY to Richard and Helen Carlson.

He grew up in Whitesboro, NY and graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1964, then went on to earn an Associates degree from Mohawk Valley Community College. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda and together they raised four children. He retired from Lockheed Martin in 2001.

His passion in life was collecting and restoring classic cars, especially corvettes. He was very active in the Classic Corvette Club of Orlando and the Knights of Columbus. Rick was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Rick was also a gifted mechanic, machinist, and engineer, and was always tinkering with assorted projects. Rick could fix just about anything, especially if everyone else said it couldn’t be fixed. He was an excellent teacher and was always eager to show off new projects, or to teach his grandchildren about electronics and anything mechanical.

Mentoring, inspiring and motivating others were just a few of his many gifts. He was also generous, thoughtful, humorous and grateful. His love of music was a gift he shared with his family.

Rick will be forever missed and loved by ALL. Rick will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Linda and his four children, Richard Carlson, Kristen (Michael) Simone, Amanda (Mark) Spano and Jeffrey Carlson. Rick will also be fondly remembered by his eleven grandchildren Alexandra, Matthew, Allison, Kaylee, Jake, Kyle, Zach, TJ, Dylan, Brandon and Emma.

He is survived by his twin brother Robert (Betty) Carlson and his sisters Elizabeth (Joe) Nolan and Eileen (Brian) Phillips and sister in law Karen (Bill) Ward. He is also survived by an uncle, an aunt, several cousins, nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Rick was welcomed into heaven by his parents and siblings, Randy, Ellen, Ron and brother in law, Jack.

Visitation will be held at DeGusipe, 1400 Matthew Paris Blvd. , Ocoee, Florida on January 1, 2019 from 5pm-8pm. A Funeral Service in memory of Rick will be held on January 2, 2019 at 11:00am at Resurrection Catholic Church, 1211 Winter Garden Vineland Road, Winter Garden, Florida 34787.
