Obituary for RICHARD DALE HILL Richard Dale ‘Ricko’ Hill, 76, of Negaunee, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 30, 2019 at The Lighthouse at Ishpeming Health and Rehabilitation Center. Richard was born April 10, 1942 in Ishpeming to Henry and Elma (Kangas) Hill and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1960. Following graduation, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Education from Northern Michigan University, and then earned his master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Utah.

Richard’s love for hunting and fishing led him to Alaska, where he was employed as a school teacher on Adak Island. Following retirement, he returned to Negaunee where he met and married the late Betty (Hakenjos) Peterson. Surviving are his step-children: Duane, Terry, Steven, Michael and Robert Peterson, and Julie Hicks; nieces and nephews: Catherine Pirkola, Kandace St. Aubin, Robert Juidici, Debra Collins, Richard Juidici, Peter Hill and Matthew Collins; and his friend and caretaker, James LaForest.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Betty in April, 2016; his brother, Robert Hill; and two sisters: Elaine Juidici and Dorothy Collins. Honoring Richard’s wishes, no public services will be held. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
