Obituary for Richard J. Welzyn Richard J. “Bud” Welzyn, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center, with his loving family by his side. Born June 18, 1944, son of the late Joseph and Julia (Jodlowski) Welzyn, he was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop & Martyr. Bud was a career US Air Force veteran, serving for twenty years and attaining the rank of Master Sergeant.

He received numerous medals and commendations including the Air Force Achievement and Commendation Medals, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Kosovo Campaign Medal and Desert Storm Service Ribbon, Expert Markmanship Ribbon, and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. Bud was an avid NASCAR fan and supporter of veterans’ causes. Bud is survived by his loving daughters, Lynn, of Florida, and Patricia and husband Jerry, of Chicopee; three cherished grandchildren, Alexandria, Anthony and James, and great-grandson, William.

He was predeceased by his brother, Eugene Welzyn. Funeral services for Bud will be held Friday at 8:30AM from Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in St. Stanislaus Basilica. Committal services with Military Honors will follow in the chapel of MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.

Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 124, 38 Broad St., Westfield, MA 01085. Upcoming Events Visitation , DEC 6.
