Richard Kender 79, of Lowell, IN, formerly of Carmel, IN, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018. He was born on December 20, 1938, son of Elmer and Mable Swank Kender. For more than 25 years, Richard was a member and elder of Cline Gardens Christian Church in Hessville, IN.

He also was a member of Central Christian Church in Carmel, now Thrive Christian Church in Westfield for 28 years. Richard retired as a manager at Ameritech. He was owner and President of Kender Communications, Inc. prior to returning to Northwest IN.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Kender and sister, Carol Byrd. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara (Larson) Kender; children, Ted (Cathy) Kender, Nancy (Eugene) Robinson, Dan (Judith) Kender, and Julie (Jerry) Kisela; 8 grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren; brother, Ken (Laurie) Kender; brother in law, Dorsey (Nancy) Byrd; sister in law, Betty Kender as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 3-6 pm in Bussell Family Funerals, with the funeral service beginning at 6 pm.
