Obituary for Richard Kenneth Wendtland Richard Kenneth Wendtland, 82, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, December 1, 2018 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Janesville, WI. He was born February 28, 1936 in Beloit, WI, the son of Oscar and Irma (Delaney) Wendtland. Richard was a 1954 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School.

During his high school years, he completed an apprenticeship at Fairbanks Morse. Richard married Mary C. Punzel on June 16, 1962 in First Lutheran Church, Janesville, WI. Richard was formerly employed by Borg’s in Janesville, WI, and Beloit Knife Works.

He retired on December 22, 1999 from Warner Electric Brake & Clutch after 35 years. In Richard’s younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and ice skate speed racing winning over 21 medals. He loved playing euchre, making up riddles, watching T.V., eating potatoe chips and drinking warm beer.

The best thing about Richard was you could always get a huge smile out of him. Richard was a member of the Local Steel workers of America and the 25-year club of Warner Electric. He was a longtime member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Beloit, WI.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Wendtland of Beloit, WI; six children, Rick (Joyce) Wendtland of Tucson, AZ, John (Kathy) Wendtland of LeRoy, IL, James (Wendy) Wendtland of Green Valley, AZ, Matthew (Brenda) Wendtland of Beloit, WI, Anna (Randy) Rabe of Rockford, IL, and Dan El’ (Bob) Benn of Dubuque, IA; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; siblings, Oscar Wendtland, Harry Wendtland, David (Lynn) Wendtland, Harvey (Nancy) Wendtland and Virginia (David) Campfield; sisters-in-law, Rita Punzel, and Elaine Punzel; brothers-in-law, Roger (Lil) Punzel and LeRoy (Kerry) Punzel’ many nieces, nephews, cousins and god children. The family would like to thank SSM Hospice and all the staff at SSM Health Dean St. Mary’s. A special thanks to the many caregivers and staff during his recent hospital stay.

He was predeceased by his parents, sisters-in-law, June Wendtland, Betty Wendtland, Armella (Earl) Southwick, Sal (Don) Jensen and Donna (James) Martin, brothers-in-law, Howard Punzel, Harvey Punzel, Arthur (Shirley) Punzel, and Richard Punzel, several aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service for Richard will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Floral Lawn Cemetery, South Beloit, IL.
