West Ossipee, NH Richard J. “Mac” McCarthy, 78, of West Ossipee, NH passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by with family and friend on Monday, October 29, 2018. He was born in Haverhill, MA on May 18, 1940 the son of Francis and Eleanor (Tutane) McCarthy. He attended St. James School and Haverhill Trade School.

Mac joined the Army Reserves in 1962. He retired from AT&T after 30 years of employment. Mach was a member of the American Legion Post 34 in Plaistow, NH.

He moved to West Ossipee, NH in 2004. Mac leaves behind his wife Patricia (Mitchell) Murphy – McCarthy of West Ossipee, NH, a daughter Lauren McCarthy, Salem, NH, a son Richard McCarthy Jr., Atkinson, NH, two grandsons, three stepsons, Jeff Murphy, Effingham, NH; Jay Murphy, West Ossipee, NH and Joel Murphy, Hawaii as well as 9 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren, a sister in law Sally McCarthy and a sister in law Judy Caillouette and two nieces. There will be a celebration of his life on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 1-5pm at the American Legion Post 34, Plaistow, NH.
