Obituary for Richard Montoya Montoya, Richard “INDIO”, 89 years of age passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 after having fought a courageous battle against numerous health issues. Mr. Montoya was a devout Catholic and attended Immaculate Conception Church. He was a loving son, husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his parents Estanislado & Juanita Montoya; his siblings, Guillermo, Leopoldo, Josefina, and Maria Ninfa: and his loving wife Mary May Sloan Montoya. He is survived by his sons, Richard Joseph Montoya, wife Marti and Leopoldo Manuel Montoya, wife Isabel: his five grandchildren, Richard Montoya, wife Sara. James Montoya, wife Ashley, Marisa Mercado, husband Michael: David Montoya and Nicole Montoya: his four great grad daughters, Olivia, Ariela, Maddiemay, and Sofia.

Mr. Montoya graduated from El Paso High School, where he was a member of the 1947 State Champion basketball team. He was later inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He attended Texas College of Mines and retired from South western Portland Cement where he worked as a Microspisis.
