MANCHESTER – Richard “Dick” N. Vance, 83, went home to be with the Lord on June 19, 2018. Dick was born September 28, 1934 in Akron, Ohio to Floyd and Rebecca Vance. He served his country as a proud United States Marine, was a member of Community Church of Portage Lakes, where he served at one time with the Missions Committee, VBS and the “Last Supper” plays as “Peter”.

He enjoyed spending time watching sporting events of his daughters and grandchildren, of whom he was very proud. Dick was a protective, caring and loving father. He was a romantic and loving husband, who was always thinking about his wife.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bob. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marge; daughters, Cheryl (Dave) Nash, Dani (Steve) Crookston, Renee (Greg) Richardson; sister, Anita Umar; grandchildren, Aaron (Jen) and Kevin Nash, Cara, Kim, Laura, Tom and Jessie Crookston, Ashley and Katie Richardson. Friends may call at Community Church of Portage Lakes, 3260 Cormany Road, Akron, OH 44319 on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m., where services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m., Pastor Gary Meeks officiating.

Interment at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care given their dad by Grace Hospice Center in Green. Also, in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations to the Grace Hospice Center or to the Community Church of Portage Lakes Sports Ministry, a ministry supported by Dick and Marge.
