Richard Leon Pingry, 84, passed away Friday, October 4, 2018 in his Gainesville, Georgia home. He was born and raised Chicago, Illinois where he graduated from The University of Illinois in 1956 with his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and ROTC program completion. Richard spent most of his working life in insurance, working for three major firms during his employment.

Richard also served the United States Army as a tank commander for approximately 8 years before being discharged. Richard was the beloved husband of Doris Neely, loving father of Katherine, James, and Steve and attentive grandfather of 6. Richard requested his memorial services be in his hometown of Chicago.

He will always be remembered as the sharp minded, witty and light-hearted Cubs fan and teddy bear collector all his friends and family knew him to be. He leaves us with one last question for all to ponder: “What do you do with a drunken sailor? ” Online condolences may be made at www.
