Obituary for Richard Rene Gingras Richard Rene Gingras of Quinton, Va passed away unexpectedly at home on April 2, 2018. Dick was born in Lawrence Mass. on June 14, 1947, the eldest son of the late Rene E. and Theresa F. (Soucy) Gingras of Derry, New Hampshire.

He was a resident of Quinton for over 30 years. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a Combat Medic in the Army’s 1st Armored Division, participating in Operation Burlington Trail and the Battle of Kham Duc. He returned home in 1968 and began what would become a lifelong career in computer science technology.

To family and friends, he was everyone’s go-to computer guru. Dick had a passion for science and was an avid reader of science fiction collecting thousands of novels over his lifetime. He was devoted to the game of softball, playing in the local softball leagues for New Kent, Hanover and Henrico.

He loved to spend time outdoors walking and exploring with his beloved german shepherd, Toby-Wan Kenobe, by his side. Dick leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Debbie Gingras (Gooden); two daughters, Lisa Gingras of Quinton and Laura (Ben) Stanfield of Varina; his stepson, Robert Owen of Richmond; three grandchildren, Anna (12), Aurora (7) and Gideon (5); three brothers, Roger (Barbara) of Salem, NH, Raymond (Cindy) of Methuen, MA and Ronald (Susan) of Windham, NH; two sisters, Celeste (John) Beaulieu of Concord, NH and Christine (Mark) Beaudoin of Merrimac, MA and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends to honor his memory from 2:00 to 4:00 on Saturday, April 14th at Wallace Manor located at 3821 N. Courthouse Road in Providence Forge.
