Obituary of Richard L. Weiss RICHARD L. WEISS TOWN OF HERKIMER – Mr. Richard L. “Rick” Weiss, 68, passed away on Thursday March 7, 2019 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his devoted family. He was born on October 15, 1950 in Havertown, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Edward and Louise (Lee) Weiss. He was a graduate of Penn State University, Summa Cum Laude.
He was united in marriage with Beverly Coffin on October 16, 1976 in Caroga Lake. Rick was a restauranteur, starting his career as owner of Sambo’s in Johnstown, New York, and later the Christmas Tree Lodge in Caroga Lake. He later relocated to Deerfield Beach, Florida and he became a Computer Engineer and Programmer for the South Florida Blood Banks.
Upon his retirement, he and Bev returned to the majestic Mohawk Valley where they nurtured their beautiful home. First and foremost was the love that Rick and Bev offered their family. He enjoyed baking and photography as well as gardening.
He was a big fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions and was always happy when watching Sci-Fi. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 42 years, Beverly, his children, Fred Farnsworth, Pat Oeser, Lynn Hancock, and Ted Farnsworth and spouses, his sister, Susan Gerdlman, his brother – in – law Bill Coffin and spouse, his grandchildren, Amber, Meridith, Travis, Sabrina, Nicole, Heather, Charissa, Cyndill, Collette, Wendy, Ashley, Jason and Garrett, along with his great-grandchildren, Christopher, Gabby, Michael, Ares, Alexander, Isabella and Dean and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister – in – law Patricia Shepardson and his brother – in – law, Norman Coffin.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 12, 2019 at 10:30 AM from The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls, and at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main & John Streets in Little Falls where his Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Calling hours at the funeral home are on Monday March 11th from 4 until 7 PM.
