Rick’s Obituary Trimont: A Celebration of Life Service for Richard Goodemann, 65, of Trimont, Minnesota will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday March 9, 2019 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Trimont, Minnesota (#61 Main St. East). Rick was called to his eternal rest on Friday evening March 1, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Fairmont, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services at the Church on Saturday.
Richard Alan Goodemann was born on December 28, 1953 and raised by Ronald and Bernadine (Rigus) Goodemann in Hollywood, California. He lived in California, Arizona and Missouri until moving to the Welcome, Minnesota area. Rick graduated from Welcome High School with the class of 1972.
He held a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwest State University in Marshall and later completed the Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government through Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government which he received a fellowship to attend. On January 20, 1979 he was united in marriage to Carol Anderson in rural Welcome, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived in rural Welcome until 1993 when they moved to Trimont.
Rick had over thirty years of experience in public and private rural housing development. He was the founding Chief Executive Officer of the Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership. He led the organization from 1992 until his retirement in January of 2019.
Rick was devoted to the Partnership’s mission to “Create thriving places to live, grow and work in partnership with communities”. He was an active member of his community having served on numerous national and local boards and advisory groups including Governor Dayton’s Task Force on Housing and NeighborWorks Capital. Rick was a very active man who loved his family well.
He enjoyed walks with his family often veering off the route to push a stroller after a rabbit much to his grandchildren’s delight. His grandchildren will remember him as an adventurous man who made time for monster at the park and dancing in the kitchen. He loved runs, frequently running 10-15 miles at a time.
He was a phenomenal cook and a master bread maker. While baking, he often cranked the music and danced joyfully with his daughters and grandchildren. He was an avid reader, reading everything from Science fiction to Civil War history to spider guides.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Trimont, Minnesota; two daughters, Jade (Kurt) Hubbard of Lakefield, Minnesota and Autumn (Robert) Gray of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren, Isabella and Lilah Hubbard and Oliver, Dawson, Nora and Ruby Gray; brothers, Ron (Lynette) Goodemann of Winthrop, Minnesota and Robert (Cherie) Goodemann of Roanoke, Virginia; nephew, Scott Goodemann of Carver, Minnesota; and other relatives and friends. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Goodemann and Bernadine Darter, father and mother-in-law, Curt Anderson and Rosemary Albrecht; brother-in-law, John Anderson and other relatives. Rick was dedicated to his family, loyal to his friends and committed to promoting social justice.
