Rick McCarthy, 66, of Aurora passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain. Rick was born September 24, 1952 in Appleton, WI. He graduated from Oak Creek High School in Oak Creek, WI and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp.

Rick served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded two Purple Hearts, as well as many other decorations and citations. He served his country in the USMC for a total of 24 years, retiring in 1993. Rick married Susan Anne Wiza on November 6, 1971 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in South Milwaukee, WI.

Rick was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, taking many hunting trips with his sons. Family was his number one priority, and he was a great husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved spending time with them.

Rick is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sue; four sons, Tommie (Tracy) McCarthy of Niagara, Tim (Jackie) McCarthy and Tony (Crystal) McCarthy, both of Aurora, and Dan (Tierney) Thomson of Quinnesec; a sister, Cheryl Williams; 13 grandchildren, Mackenzie, Abigail (fiance, Hunter Kaldor), Dawson, Jadah, Michael, Aurora, Brenden, Liam, Paisley, Lexi, Ethan, Victoria and Averie; special friends, Mark Cavasos and Ian Weber and brothers, Big Tom and Pinky who were very special friends to Rick. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Keenan Rick McCarthy and his best friend, Grandpa Dave. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Thursday, May 2 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

Memorial services will follow at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Deacon Don Christy will officiate. Condolences may be expressed to the family of Rick McCarthy online at www.
