CHARLES RICHARD “Rick” WALTERS October 19, 1958 – February 23, 2019 Charles Richard “Rick” Walters, age 60, passed away Saturday, February 23 at his home in Vallejo. Rick was born in Germany on a US military base and has lived in Vallejo, CA the past 28 years. He graduated from North Central High School in 1976 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Ball State in business/marketing where he was a member of Theta Xi fraternity.

In junior high he was on the wrestling team and was the student manager of the basketball team in high school. He also was an avid swimmer and played water polo. Rick worked as a salesman for 30 years for Ravago Americas (formerly Pacific Coast Chemicals).

His passion was music and he loved it so much he moved from his home state of Indiana to California in 1987 to live in the music hub. He loved recording, listening to and talking about music. He helped facilitate a concert for Amnesty International and his weekend plans always had something to do with music.

With the exception of flying, Rick loved to travel. The few times he did fly was to Germany in 1990 to see the Grateful Dead and to take his wife to Hawaii, only because he couldn’t drive there. He was a very patient man with a flair for some romance at times.

He enjoyed always having a dog, mostly rescues. His most recent pup, “Zami” would often travel in the car with Rick as he would run errands around town. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Margaret; mother, Demetria “Ann” Walters; mother-in-law, Phyllis Byrum; and numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles H. Walters III and brother, David “Skip” Walters. Rick knew how to make friends in every facet of his life and he was loved by the many friends he made. His free spirit will truly be missed.
