OBITUARY Ricky Lee Thomason May 9, 1957 – October 12, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Ricky Lee Thomason, 61, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 in Bedford, Texas. Ricky was born in Fort Worth, Texas on May 9, 1957 and adopted by Marvin and Linnie Thomason. A graduate of L.D. Bell High School, Ricky married his high school sweetheart Dana Lynn Gwinn, whom he met in their English class.

This year Ricky and Dana celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Ricky graduated from Texas Wesleyan University in 1978 and went on to operate OK Tire Store in Dallas before settling in at his father-in-law’s pallet business. In 1983 his son was born and his world was changed forever.

His desire to be the best husband, father, and friend he could be was constantly on display. Ricky had his first of several debilitating back surgeries in his early 30’s and the pain from those surgeries would plague him for the rest of his life. Despite his physical limitations, Ricky always found time to play catch with his son, coach his sports teams, and work in his wood shop.

Ricky was an accomplished wood worker and great at building and fixing things around the house. He was also an amazing coach, as he led his son’s teams – the Jets, Mets, A’s, Seminoles and Hurricanes all to championships. Perhaps the only thing greater than his love of helping children was his Christian faith.

Ricky spent hours and hours reading his Bibles, praying for others, and sitting hunched over his desk marking and highlighting passages for his Bible study. Ricky loved watching baseball, basketball, football, golf, boxing and auto racing, as well as driving his family across the country to watch his son play baseball. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dana, their son Kyle David Thomason, his daughter-in-law Jodi Marie Thomason, his grandson Clark Wyatt Thomason, his mother-in-law Melba Gwinn, as well as many family and friends.
