Eckhardt, Rita A. On November 11, 2018. Rita A. Eckhardt passed away at age 89. A life time resident of South Baltimore, and a reverent Catholic.

Rita was devoted to her Church, St. Mary Star of the Sea. As a young girl she played basketball for Seton high school then later worked for Baltimore Gas and Electric in customer records for over 20 years. Clocks, Bingo, Cold beer and crabs were a few of her favorite things and don’t dare call her at 7 PM because she would be watching her favorite show Jeopardy.

Mrs. Eckhardt was a huge Orioles fan, Enjoyed Maryland Terps Basketball and tried to love the Ravens. Mrs. Eckhardt is the beloved wife of 66 years to Donald H. Eckhardt; loving mother of Denise Gerber and her husband Tom, Michael Eckhardt, Donna Seward and late husband Melvin Seward, Regina Eckhardt, Chrissy Lesniowski and husband Adam; Cherished grandmother of Tom and his wife Jen, Tina and her husband TJ, Matthew, Emily, Casey, David, Edgar, Jim and wife Allison, Joseph and companion Jen, and Owen; dear great grandmother of Kristen, Nicholas, Kaylee, Caden, Wyatt, Jill, Kayden, Savannah, Harleigh, Winnie, and Hank. Rita is also blessed with many loving nieces and nephews and was welcomed into heaven by her six siblings.

Family requests relatives and friends to visit the family owned Gonce Funeral Service P.A. 4001 Ritchie Highway on Wednesday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of christian burial will be held in St. Marys Star of the Sea Church 1400 Riverside Ave, Baltimore, MD 21230 on Thursday at 11 AM. Interment will take place in Glen Haven Memorial Park.
