Roanna G. Buckskin Stump was born on December 4, 1953 in Pocatello, Idaho to Alvin Buckskin and Flora Mae (Chedehap) Buckskin. She passed away on June 6, 2018 following an extended illness at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. Roanna began attending school in Pocatello.

After graduation, she furthered her education by going in to nursing. She became a Registered Nurse. She worked at St. Anthony and Bannock Memorial Hospitals in Pocatello.

She was a CHR employee for the tribe… Read More » and later became a director for the Tribal Health Program. Roanna married Calvin Jesse Stump in 1984 in Fort Hall, Idaho. Together they had daughter, Jessica Mae Stump.

Roanna enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling to pow-wows, handgames and Indian Relays. She was an avid supporter of Ghost Canyon Singers and was a second mother to all of them. Roanna was a member of the Native American Church and a Sun Dancer.

She was very knowledgeable of the Native American traditional ways. Roanna was a role model and spokesperson for the Shoshone Bannock Tribe. She was always helping others as needed.

She loved to volunteer and be involved in the Shoshone Bannock Festival and was a coordinator for several years. Roanna was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Flora (Chedehop) Buckskin; a daughter, Jessica Stump; a brothers, Lester Devinney, Gardell Buckskin, Wisdom Buckskin, baby boy Buckskin and Norbert Buckskin; a sisters, Irenice “Rena” Buckskin and Maryland Buckskin; paternal grandparents, Charles and Grace Buckskin; maternal grandparents, Nannie and Emily Miller Chedehop. Roanna was a descendent of Chief Taghee who signed the treaty for Shoshone-Bannock Tribe and also Pansookmotse (Otter).

Roanna is survived by her husband, Calvin Jesse Stump; a son, Noah Fred; grandson, Kylen Stump; brothers, Clifford (Angie) Buckskin, Douglas Buckskin, Wayland Buckskin, and Aaron (Julie) Buckskin; sisters, Corrine Pocatilla, Loreen (Junie) Buckskin, and JoElla Tindore; aunts, Delthea Smith, Aurelia Momeberg, Wilma Amboh, Denise Peshlakai, Lenora Hall; and uncle Kilburn Buckskin. The family is receiving friends at the family home on Hawthorne and Lodge Roads in Fort Hall until service time which will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 12th at Gibson Cemetery in Fort Hall.
