Robert’s Obituary Forestport- Robert A. Laux, 86, of State Route 28 passed away at home on March 15, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Boonville on October 29, 1932, a son of Leon and Laura Utley Laux. He grew up on Academy Street and graduated from Boonville High School in 1950.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1952, was a Korean War Veteran and served as a medic and rifleman. He was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal in 1960. He attended the University of Delhi and then became employed at Ethan Allen, a career he enjoyed for 41 years, until retiring in 1998.

He married Florence Alm April 6, 1963 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Boonville. In 1968 he designed and built their home on Route 28. Robert was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and was very much loved by all.

His family was the center of his universe and he loved all children. He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Boonville. Robert enjoyed playing his guitar, woodworking, spending time at the family camp at White Lake, water skiing and swimming.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Florence; children, Bill and Mary Kay Laux, VA. Karen Laux, Horseheads, NY, Cheryl Laux, Ballston Lake, NY and Brenda and Douglas Shaffer, Boonville; six grandchildren, Caitlyn Laux, Andrew, Kendra and Megan Trimbach and Dalton and Mackenzie Shaffer and one brother, Leon Laux, Boonville. He was predeceased by his parents who he shared a close bond with.

A Requiem Eucharist Funeral Service will be on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville with Mother Linda Logan officiating. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later time in Beechwood Cemetery, Forestport.
