Obituary for Robert Allen Massey Robert Allen Massey, 76 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away on June 30, 2018 after a debilitating cancer related illness. Bob was born August 26, 1941 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois where he attended Sutherland Elementary School, and Morgan Park High School on the city’s south side.

He attended Iowa State University, followed by a very important three year period in the United States Army where Bob discovered his true calling in hospitality management, and upon an honorable discharge from the Army, enrolled in and graduated from Michigan State university where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management. While at Michigan State Bob became President of the Psi Gamma Chapter of Beta Theta Pi Social fraternity. Bob was very proud of being a “Beta” and of his leadership role in his fraternity, following in the footsteps of his father, Robert E. Massey who had also been President of his Beta Theta Pi Chapter at the University of Chicago.

Bob was proud to be a Michigan State University graduate, and throughout his life he was known to often wear a Michigan State sweatshirt and cap, to drive with a Michigan State Alumni license plate holder, and to work “Spartan” into his online email addresses. Upon graduation from Michigan State, Bob entered into a career in hotel management where he proceeded to work his way up the career ladder at increasingly prestigious positions at Marriott Hotel Corporation facilities first in the Chicago area, and later at Marriott postings throughout the United States. In the last years of his active professional life Bob relocated to Tulsa Oklahoma where he managed large housing facilities in Central Oklahoma owned by American Bank and Trust of Tulsa.

Bob is survived and will be greatly missed by his former wife Jacquelyn Beyer Massey of Boulder Colorado, his children Clarke Christian Massey (Leanne Fanning) of Lakewood, Colorado, Blythe Beyer Massey of Cobb, California, and Alette Allen Massey (Mike Bragg) of Nederland, Colorado, his grandson Waylon, his sister Charlotte Massey Hayes of Wilmette, Illinois, his brother, Thomas Pierce Massey of Worcester, Massachusetts, 2 nephews, and 2 nieces, countless cousins with whom he always had a close relationship. He was preceded in death by loving parents, Robert E Massey and Annette Allen Massey-Francis. He will be remembered for his unconditional love for his family and friends, his enthusiasm for many interests and hobbies, his thirst for knowledge, his jovial spirit, his boundless generosity, his unfailing good nature, his infectious laugh, his sense of humor.
