Obituary for Robert “Bob” Andrew Corkish Robert (Bob) Andrew Corkish, Jr. was born in Missoula, Montana on June 10, 1938 and passed away from complications of pulmonary fibrosis disease on December 2, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was the son of Robert Andrew and Anne Corkish. The family moved from Missoula to Anaconda in 1944.
Bob graduated from Anaconda High School in 1956. He enlisted in the US Navy and served in the South Pacific. He then attended the University of Montana and studied pre-pharmacy.
After his second year at U of M, he took a summer job at the Anaconda Post Office and continued working there for 36 years. He was also very well known for decades of tending bar in many locations, primarily Thompson’s Bar where up to his death he was a member of the Thompson’s coffee club. Bob married Sharon Moyle on March 17, 1967.
Bob and Sharon raised 5 children. In 2017, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. Sharon passed away February 28, 2018.
Bob was very lonely and missed her greatly these last few months. Bob enjoyed coaching men’s and women’s softball teams and youth baseball. He cherished his hunting trips with his sons and friends.
Bob loved to play golf and was a board member at the Anaconda Country Club. Bob was an avid Montana Grizzlies football fan and never missed a Griz home football game. Bob’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his five children, Vickie (Scott) Zeier, Linda (John) VonLaven, Robert (Merle) Corkish, Robbie Ann (Steve Madrid) Taylor and Mike (Jamie) Corkish; grandchildren: Hollie (Sara) Zeier, Lindsey (Jed) Thomas, Ericka (Zach) Melton, Nicole (Beau Madsen) VonLaven, Kristoffer Corkish, Kristel (Edi) Perez-Corkish, Kristian Corkish, Zak Taylor, Izzy Madrid, Morgan Corkish, Michael Corkish and Tristian Corkish; great grandchildren: Sloane & Saige Thomas, Liam, Caden & McKenna Melton, and Devon Borja; sister: Nancy (Don) Goehri; brother: Lee Corkish; nephews: Brian, Brant & Tim Arbuckle, Derek Goehri; nieces: Heidi & Tracy Goehri. He is preceded in death by his wife Sharon. His parents, Bob and Anne Corkish.
Sister and Brother-in-law Carol (Corkish) & Bill Arbuckle. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family wants to thank the Anaconda Community Hospital ER and ICU staff and especially Doctor Cook for their compassionate care.
The Corkish family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the St. Peter’s Restoration Fund, Holy Family Church, 217 W Pennsylvania ST, Anaconda, MT 59711; Anaconda Junior Golf, %Anaconda Country Club, or JDRF.org Diabetes Foundation or donor’s choice. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home Chapel. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the services.
