OBITUARY Robert “Bob” W. Williams December 15, 1920 – November 27, 2018 Robert “Bob” Wheeler Williams passed away peacefully on Nov. 27, 2018, at his home at The Arbors of San Marino, Westminster, at nearly 98 years old. He was born in Woodsville, New Hampshire to Elwin C. and Margaret Williams.

Shortly after, the family moved to Boston. He had three brothers and one sister (all now deceased). After graduating from high school he held many interesting jobs including chauffeur and meat packer.

A World War II Navy veteran, he was proud of his service as a radio operator aboard a Liberty Ship that supplied the fleet and sailed to ports as far flung as Iraq and the Philippines. In 1953, he married the love of his life, Elsie Flecchia, also from Boston; they had 61 romantic and congenial years together enjoying dancing, French classes, and going to Europe and on Elderhostel trips together, and sharing a mutual devotion to their Catholic faith. Elsie passed away in 2014 after a long illness.

They had one son and in 1965 the family moved to Denver for the better climate. By that time Bob was working for the U.S. Postal Service and was able to transfer. The three of them flourished in their new “Western” city.

During his working years Bob was a ham radio operator and grew vegetables and fruit in his garden in Wheat Ridge. He retired from the USPS in 1987 after 26 years. He joined a senior hiking group and trekked all over the area’s beautiful mountain trails.

He participated in a weekly woodcarving workshop and painted in oils, among many other hobbies and interests. An avid reader, he could always be found doing the daily crossword puzzle in ink. He is survived by his son Robert A. Williams (wife Nancy) of Los Altos, California, beloved sisters- and brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
