BRAINTREE – Robert C. Brooks, 85, passed away peacefully on December 3rd, 2018. Bob was born on February 4th, 1933 and lived in Braintree most of his life. A former prominent real estate broker in Braintree and an active dedicated Rotarian – Bob loved his family, being on Cape Cod, playing backgammon, and animals of all kinds.

Brooksie was active in Braintree sports and graduated in the Class of 1950, where he was the President of the Student Council and Vice President of his class. He was Co-Captain of the track team, having been second in the state of 100 yard dashes and an outstanding football player. Bob attended the University of Miami, Florida and even at only 5’5”, he played basketball for Babson College.

During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army 64th Medical Corps and was their Director of Sports. He was a member of the Weymouth semi-pro football team and Morrissey football of Quincy, and also was part-owner of the Farm Team of the Patriots. Bob was a former member of the Braintree Jr. Chamber of Commerce, and for his dedication to the Braintree Rotary Club he was made a Paul Harris Fellow.

He was the son of the late William G. Brooks and Helen Hare Brooks and brother of the late Richard S. Brooks and David P. Brooks. He is survived by his brother, William H. Brooks, daughter Kim Brooks and her husband Bill Conboy, daughter Kristen Brooks, granddaughter Jillian Oster, and his former wife Joan Gustafson Brooks. Visitation will be on December 8th at 9:00 AM at the Braintree Peck Funeral Homes, 516 Washington St., followed by a Christian prayer service at the funeral home at 10:15 and burial at 11:30 at the Blue Hills Cemetery at 700 West St., Braintree.

Charitable donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Quincy Animal Shelter at 56 Broad St, Quincy, MA 02169.
