Obituary for Robert “Chubby” G. Chubb Robert “Bob” G. Chubb, age 84, longtime Grove resident passed away Saturday May 12, 2018 at his home in Zena. Bob was born on May 11, 1934 to Earl and Clara (Myers) Chubb in Lemon, SD. As a child, his family moved to Pittsburg, KS where he attended school and graduated from College High School in 1952.

While in high school, Bob met the love of his life, Alma “Bea” Forbes. They were crowned homecoming King and Queen their Sr year and married on August 30, 1952 in Pittsburg, KS. In 1958, Bob completed a 4yr apprenticeship with KC Southern Railroad.

He then joined the US Navy and proudly served his country until 1963. In 1964, together the couple opened Pittsburg Refrigeration and operated that until moving to Grove in 1982. Shortly after moving to Grove, Bob and Bea opened Tempy’s Furniture and Sporting Goods and operated until retiring when the highway Dept bought them out.

Bob was a member of the Noel Golf Country Club and the Masonic Lodge in Pittsburg. He was a loving, outgoing family man and an avid golfer and fisherman, never happier than when he was on the lake. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and wife, Bea.

Left to cherish his memory: 3 children, Sandy McCabe and husband, Larry, of Zena, OK, Sheri Smith and husband, David, of Pittsburg, KS, Rob Chubb and wife, Lori, of Grove, OK; grandchildren: Garrett Smith, Kimberly Hudson and husband, Trey; Tiffany Furr, Tyler Chubb and wife, Kendra; Karissa Smith-Hamblin and husband, Brad; and Ashley Johnson and husband, Kaston; great grandchildren: Easton, Lucas, Noël, Arianna, Kinzingtin, Parker, Axton, Asher and Kynlee. A Celebration of Life party will be held at Eagles Landing (Bears Den) from 2-8pm Friday, May 18, 2018. Dinner and drinks will be served.

A second Celebration of Life service will be held at 2pm Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the Mirza Temple in Pittsburg, KS. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Robert “Chubby” G. Chubb please visit our Sympathy Store.
