Obituary for Robert D. “Bobby” Schean 1932-2018. He passed away after an extended illness on Thursday, July 5, 2018 in the arms of his loving wife of 37 years, Bonnie Schean. Bobby was with TVA for over 55 years both as boilermaker and also as a superintendent.

After retirement he was a consultant with Gubmk and other contractors, repairing other power plants until the age of 79. He was a Korean War Veteran. Bobby was an avid fisherman; he fished in lakes in Canada as well as in Florida several times a year with his buddies.

He was also a hunter and had trophy bears, antelope and other large species. He loved life the last 40 years and enjoyed a wonderful life with Bonnie and her family in Alabama. They traveled a lot and enjoyed each other until his sickness 4 ½ years ago.

Bobby was a very generous man. He was always loaning money to his children and friends and was never repaid. He and Bonnie worked hard to have what they had together and as a couple and always took care of each other’s needs.

He always bragged on her cooking and the way she supported him in a lot of hard times and deaths in his family. He loved his mother, Ellen Mae Dunlap and Knoxville and never missed two weeks going to see her until her death. He was a good man who deserved more than what most of his children gave him.

He was preceded in death by his parents of Knoxville, TN; 3 sons; and 2 daughters. He leaves behind his loving wife, Bonnie; stepson, Mike Newman; and grandson, Matthew Newman to grieve his death. He is also survived by lots of friends; one special granddaughter, Holly Schean; grandson, Johny Schean; and 3 daughters.

We would like to thank a special caregiver and friend, Michelle Spires for her loving care as well as Fran with Hospice for caring for him; and also Dr. George Evan, his doctor. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to a charity of your choice. Bonnie, Mike and Matthew would like to thank Mike Morrison and Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia, AL for their help with arrangements and the great response to gathering him and taking care of him with the greatest respect and kindness that could ever be given.

A private celebration of his life was held by his wife’s family and close friends Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Robert D. “Bobby” Schean please visit our Sympathy Store.
