Robert D. Mangus, 89, of Washington Township, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018 in QLS- West Haven Manor, Washington Township. Born January 23, 1929 in Apollo, he was a son of the late Dale E. Mangus & Virginia (Doloughan) Mangus. Robert was a 1947 graduate of Apollo High School, and proudly served our country with the United States Army during the Korean War.

He worked as a dairy manager for the former A & P in Vandergrift for 32 years, and later worked in maintenance… Read More » for the Leechburg Area School District for 13 years, retiring in 1992. Robert enjoyed camping and going square dancing with his late wife Anna. In recent years, he was involved in draft horses, and had several teams of horses over the last decade, including winning Blue Ribbons at the Armstrong County Fair in Dayton, PA.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Anna E. (Wich) Mangus, who passed away on May 11, 2005; an infant son, Michael Mangus; and a sister, Betty Mangus, who passed away when she was 14 years old. He is survived by his children, Mark R. (Hiliary Goff) Mangus of West Grove, PA, Brian J. Mangus of Galena, OH, Anita Moore of New Albany, OH, Jeffrey D. Mangus of Coraopolis, PA; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. At Robert’s request, all services are private, and have been entrusted to the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Apollo, PA.

Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo, will be at the convenience of the family.
