Robert Dancing Bob M George, May 29, 1944 — November 30, 2018

Obituary for Robert “Dancing Bob” McGeorge Robert “Dancing Bob” McGeorge, 74, of Grand Island passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018, with his family at his side. Memorial service and celebration of Bob’s life will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Gollaher Chapel. A gathering of friends and family will be from 9:30 until service time.

Burial of ashes will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. The family requests that guests wear their “Dancing Bob” t-shirts or purple, to honor those fighting Pancreatic Cancer.

Bob was born May 29, 1944 in Omaha, NE, the son of Raymond and Gladys (Bartlett) McGeorge. He grew up and received his education in Monowi, NE. On May 20, 1977, he married Penny Peirce in Gollaher Chapel.

The couple made their home in Hastings before moving to Grand Island. Bob was employed by Hastings Industries and later Chief Industries. Following his retirement, he drove as a delivery man for O’Reilly Auto Parts.

He was a member of Christian Motorcycle Association; and loved to ride his bike. His interests were varied and many. Bob loved to fish, whether in solitude or with a crowd.

Dancing came naturally, and along with that was his love of music. Bob was an advocate for cancer awareness. He wanted everyone, everywhere to push for a better understanding of causes, symptoms and cures for cancer.

Those who will cherish his memory include his wife, Penny; children, Michael McGeorge of Grand Island, daughter, Toni (Josh) Richardson of Grand Island, Pamela (Grady) Seymour of O’Neill, NE and Brenda Fairbanks of Norfolk, NE; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Gail Peirce and fiancée, Nancy of Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Rick McGeorge. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
