Robert (Bobby) D. Overton, Jr. Sellersburg, Indiana With great sadness, the family of Bobby Overton announces his passing after his year-long, courageous battle with cancer. Born September 12, 1955 to Robert (Bob) D. Overton, Sr. and Vivian Overton in Louisville, Kentucky, he left this life on January 20, 2019 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, in the comforting arms of his family and his Lord. In recent years, Bobby left his home in Terre Haute, In.

to return to his childhood home in Sellersburg, In. to care for his mother Vivian. Such was his loving spirit.

A gentle soul and dearly loved son, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Bobby rejoiced in living a life of simple pleasures. His passions were rescuing and caring for animals, and rejoicing in nature, astronomy, and his art. He was an accomplished artist; he graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1973 and his artwork remains on display at the school to this day.

His heart was on fire for the Lord and his belief, along with his family, was the center of his life. He loved watching football, a big Colts fan, along with IU and Kentucky basketball. Bobby was predeceased by his brother Larry R. Dones, and his father Robert D. Overton, Sr., and many grandparents.

He is survived by his mother Vivian Overton; his brothers and sisters, Sharolyn Herring, Suzanne Overton, Jerry Dones (Cathy), Cynthia Williams (Danny), Terry Overton (Vickie), Steven Overton (Diane) and Vickie Conner; his children Rachel Howard (Ryan), DeAnna Griffin (Sean), and David Overton Sr. (Leah); his grandchildren Megan Deatrick (David), Kyle Howard (Tailar Couthen), Austin Elsbury, Callie Bowman, David Overton Jr., Tyler Overton, Colton Brown and Gavin Manning; and his great-grandchildren Braxton and Avery Deatrick and Brooks Howard, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews and family members. Bobby will live forever in the hearts and souls of his family and friends, who will never forget his caring and forgiving nature, his devotion, his sweet smile and his beautiful eyes. A memorial service in remembrance of our beloved Bobby will be held at the Garr Funeral Home, 7806 County Road 311 in Sellersburg, IN, on Friday, January 25, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., when the service begins.
